"Columbia Correctional Institution will not be producing Mr. Gonzalez by phone or video," said Court Officials. "The Columbia Correctional Institution advised the Lincoln County correctional sheriffs office who was going to transport Mr. Gonzalez said that there had been an outbreak.

The victim of the battering by Carlos Gonzalez, Pandora Lobacz sat down with Newswatch12 and gave her thoughts on Monday's proceedings.

"Going through this after 3 years its frustrating that I have keep being exposed to my battery," said Lobacz

In October 2017, Lobcaz was attacked by Gonzalez, she said she tried to calm the boy down but the situation started to escalate.

"I noticed that he was starting to clench that he was clenching and unclenching his hands into fists," said Lobacz. "He went into a fighter stance and with his whole body punched me as hard as I could in my face and knocked me out."

Other staff members rushed to help and Lobacz was taken to Merrill hospital, then transferred to Aspirus in Wausau.

Lobacz said she was attacked to the point where she told Newswatch12 she would've lost her life if things were different.

"I really think that if he would have had time to pummel me, this would have been a different story and instead of me doing an interview in front of you, I would be dead," said Lobacz.
It was the first time she was assaulted by an inmate in the 25 years she has worked in youth prisons, Lobacz said after Monday's court proceeding, and other attacks that have gone on at Lincoln Hills, she's afraid for the worst.
"It's frustrating sitting here 3 years after being battered, fighting behind the scenes for 3 years only to realize that its continued to implode the institution, I am terrified that whether its a student or staff ends up dead there," said Lobacz.

Lobacz said students need to be held accountable, be in a safe and supportive environment, and take ownership of their criminal misconduct and victimization, before therapy can be implemented and real cognitive change can occur.

"You have to have a balance between holding youth accountable for negative behavior along with a balance of therapy programs that deal with cognitive change," said Lobacz.

Even after everything that she had been through, Lobacz said she will continue to be a catalyst for change.

"This is not the way I want to end it, I will still continue to fight for change," said Lobacz.
